Obituary for James Wellington Logan

James Wellington Logan
Bangor - James Wellington Logan passed away on September 16, 2016 at The Maine Veterans’ Home in the company of his loving wife Cynthia. James was born on April 5th 1925, the son of Horace Logan and Marion (Pottle) Logan.

He attended Eastport schools and graduated from Shead High School. Following graduation he served in the Army during WWII. He worked briefly for the Army Corp of Engineers and then worked for Bangor Hydro until he retired.

James was predeceased by his parents and his brother Stanley. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Cynthia Logan; brother, Edwin Logan; son, Thomas Logan and his wife Susan; grandson, Ryan Logan and his wife Beth and their son Bennett.

In keeping with Jim’s wishes there will be no services and he wanted “just enough in his obituary to cover the law”. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Legion Post #9, 42 Court Street, Machias, ME 04654, The Disabled American Veterans Dept. of Maine, P.O. Box 3415, Augusta, ME 04330, or a charity of your choice. Anyone interested in knowing more of Jim’s life can look on the Maine Veterans’ Home Facebook page where he was Veteran of the month earlier this year.

I am eternally grateful for the superb care Jim received from Beacon Hospice, and for all the special people at The Maine Veteran’s Home who got his humor and made him laugh and smile.

I asked him if he had any words of wisdom and he said no.” No one listened to me when I was alive, why should they listen to me when I'm gone” he said with a chuckle and a grin.

I am sad for those of us left behind who will miss the twinkle in his eyes and his beautiful smile and the Great Big Heart that he hid so well, but which was always open for me. Thank you my DRB, I'm forever grateful, you earned your wings, time to fly”.
