Helen Irene Thompson
BREWER - Helen Irene Thompson, 82, of Brewer, formerly Helen Wasson of Dedham, died Tuesday February 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital after a brief battle with Leukemia. She was born July 29, 1934, in Bangor, the daughter of Clayton and Frances Wasson. She grew up in Dedham and graduated from Brewer High School. She attended the NH College of Accounting. She retired after many years from the University of Maine as the supervisor of the accounting department. She was the loving wife of Charles T. Thompson for 46 years and they have lived happily in Brewer. She was a member of the Dedham Congregational Church. Her life was filled with neighbors, friends and family who will miss her very much. And in turn, they will miss the joy she brought to their lives. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Charles T. Thompson; her daughter Cindy (Thompson) Barbato and son-in-law Peter Barbato of Demarest, NJ; and the joy of her life, her grandson, Drew Johnson of Hoboken , NJ. She is also survived by her close friend and sister, Nancy (Wasson) Turner-Reynolds and brother-in-law Jack Reynolds of Hermon; as well as her brother-in-law Ron Thompson of North Baltimore, Ohio. She loved several nieces and nephews that provided wonderful visits, phone calls and support throughout her life. Richard Turner and wife Sherri of Michigan, Mark Turner of Levant, Bruce Turner and his wife Joannie of Orrington and Lezlie Turner of Barrington, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind several loving great nephews and nieces whom she loved very much as well.
