Obituary for William Henry 'Bill' Bradley III

William Henry 'Bill' Bradley III
OLD TOWN - William Henry 'Bill' Bradley III, 87, passed away peacefully, March 16, 2017, at home, with his loving family by his side. He was born January 19, 1930, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of William H. and Jessie (Allen) Bradley Jr. Bill served his Country in the United States Navy. Following his service, and never one to avoid hard work, Bill worked several jobs in his early years so that his wife could stay home and raise their five children. His children learned that hard work was to be admired; an honest day's work was expected and finding enjoyment in your job a bonus. After retiring in 1989 as a Purchasing Agent at the Old Town mill he began a second career at Old Town Canoe. Bill also served on the Board of the Penobscot County Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and especially wood working. Bill was active in his church community, a life member of the Old Town Knights of Columbus #2537, served on the Parish Council and was a Eucharistic minister and a Cross Bearer. Besides his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was very proud of building the family home where the door was always open and no stranger was ever turned away. Bill lived his life devoted to his family and was a man of integrity, humility and faith. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Leona E. (Messier) Bradley, and his sister, Judith Bline. He is survived by his children, Gloria Nadeau and husband, Michael, of Old Town, Debra Rickert and husband, Michael, of New Jersey, William H. Bradley IV and wife, Margo, of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., Kathryn Nadeau and husband, Allen, of Orono, and Melissa Bradley and companion, Bruce Philbrick, of Bangor; ten grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Matthew, Bill, Ryan, Brad, Luke, Nick, Noah and Brooke; fourteen great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kayleigh, Hunter, Charley, Christian, Cruz,Willow, Henry, Desmond, Owen, Brady, Mason, Clayton, and Colette; sisters, Jacquelyn Wigand and Patricia Mattison; many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
