Avis graduated from high school in Mars Hill and then established her home in Corinth where she raised her family. Avis worked and ran the family poultry farm for many years and then in 1976 with her second husband, Martin L. Morrison, Sr. took over Morrison’s Lobster Company in Kittery. In 1988 Marty and Avis retired to Corinth and worked for several years for Budget and Ryder Truck Rental. They had been able to spend several winters in Thonotosassa, Florida where they also had many snowbird friends. Avis was an avid beano player for many years, loved country music and learned to love and play golf and is famous for getting a hole in one at Todd’s Valley Golf Course in Charleston.
She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter, Maine and appreciated all of her friends and fellowship time through her years at the church. Avis enjoyed going on rides and especially loved the Maine coast and its lighthouses. Marty and Avis enjoyed their yearly trips to Campobello Island with their family and church friends.
Avis was predeceased by her second husband Marty in 2003; her mother Alice in 1987; and her father William in 1988; brothers, William Jr., Dale, Adrian, and her sisters, Phyllis Cote and Imogene Binette.

Avis is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carolyn and husband Michael McKinney of Elliot and Morrison children, Marty, Jr., and his wife, Colleen; Judy and her husband Paul Bilodeau; Ray, Sally, Kathleen and Richard.
The family would like to express appreciation for the outstanding care, consideration and kindness shown to Avis and her family while she lived at Emilio Estates. Also, many thanks to those who visited, took Avis for rides and out for lunches and encouraged Avis over the years.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1195 Stetson Road, Exeter, with Pastor Stan Griffin, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call 2 p.m. until time of service. A reception will follow the service, then interment will be at the Corinthian Cemetery.
