Bangor – Robert L. Fernald, 66, died after a brief illness September 1, 2017, at a Bangor Hospital. He was born September 9, 1950, in Vineland, NJ, the son of Robley and Geraldine (Stevens) Fernald.

Bob retired from GE in Bangor, after 35 years of service. Although he did several different jobs there, he spent the last 10 as an Environmental Health Safety consultant. Bob liked to go fishing and bowling, and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed painting, and spending time at camp. Bob will be remembered as a gentle, kind, and funny man.

In addition to his father, Bob was predeceased by a brother, Walter Fernald. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Maina Fernald; his children, Kelli Turner, Sara Duplain and husband Jon, and Matthew Fernald; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Isabella, Jack, and Nadia; a brother Steven Fernald; and a sister Robin Broden and husband Dave.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be a private celebration of his life.
