Obituary for David George Bryant

David George Bryant
BANGOR - David George Bryant- Dave Bryant, 79, passed peacefully, at home, with his wife and daughter, by his side. He was born February 4, 1939, in Winterport, Maine, the son of George and Ruth (Lloyd-Jones) Bryant.
Dave attended Bangor High School, and Lee Academy, and following graduation, joined his father at W.C. Bryant and Son, Inc. in Bangor. At the age of twenty, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, and following his service, returned to the family business, in Bangor.
Dave ran Bryant’s for 45 years, followed by a second career as a Realtor, serving the Bangor area, which lasted ten years, before he fully retired. He was a very loyal supporter of local business, and a member of Rotary Club, City Club, Tarratine Club, and served on several boards, both in Bangor and Clifton. Dave was a member and past master of Rising Virtue Lodge #10, AF & AM of Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32nd Degree and Anah Shriners. On September 24, 1986 he was coronated a 33rd Degree and honorary member of the Supreme Council of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. Dave met Jamie in 1992 and they were married in January of 1997, and made their home in Clifton.
Dave was an extraordinary sailor and storyteller, with a loving and generous
spirit. He loved God, and his family and friends, dearly. He enjoyed woodworking, working on boats, theatre and travel.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Mark David Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Jamie (Hayne) Bryant, his daughter, Heather Bryant Russell and her husband, Fred Russell, and his sisters Joan Swanson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Gwen Gilson of Brunswick, ME, and Nancy Nutt of Belfast, ME, along with many nieces and nephews.
Honoring David’s wishes, a private scattering of his ashes, at sea, will be done, by family, this summer.
Those who wish to remember Dave in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Crossroads Christian Camp 33 Baldy Road, Bradley, ME 04411 * Please be sure to note Dave Bryant Scholarship Fund in memo on check.
