Obituary for
Michael Dennis Christie Winch
Hampden and Winterport – Michael D. Winch, passed away August 17, 2016 after a long illness. He was born February 19, 1942 in Brewer, the son of Norman and Madalene (Rogan) Winch.
Michael proudly served in the United States Army, and lived most of his life in Winterport, with his wife Carol. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed spending time watching various games with his grandchildren. Michael was a strong role model who had a positive influence on people. He led by setting a good example. Michael was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Bruce. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol (Gagne) Winch; children, Gina Belcher and her husband Buddy, Michael Winch Jr., and his wife Rhonda, and Alan Winch; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer and Adam Belcher, Rogan, Gabe and Kory Winch, Collin Hewes, Bethany Verrill, Rychel Gibson, Brittney Vinson, and Arich and Micah Hawes; several great grandchildren; his sister Sheila Swinston as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith 45 Western Ave., Hampden with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com
